Shun Hirota

Shun Hirota is currently a full professor at Graduate School of Science and Technology, Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Japan. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in engineer from Kyoto University and gained his Ph.D. from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies under the supervision of Prof. Teizo Kitagawa. After working as a JSPS research fellow and post-doctoral researcher in the Institute of Molecular Science at the Okazaki National Research Institutes and in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University, he joined Nagoya University as an assistant professor in 1996, and became an associate professor at Kyoto Pharmaceutical University in 2002. He was invited to Nara Institute of Science and Technology as a full professor in 2007. His research interests include structures, functions, and reaction mechanisms of metalloproteins. He also focuses his research on protein assemblies.
